About Us
The club caters for all ages and our members range in ability from complete novices to those with fairly advanced skills. With two meetings a month on the first and third Thursday there is always something happening and a monthly newsletter. We have an Email group list for notices of meeting and events. Our newsletter “Viewfinder” is emailed out monthly and posted to those not on the internet.
Workshops are run on the first Thursday of every month with a variety of topics covered over the year, while the General Meeting on the third Thursday usually features a special presentation or guest speaker. The AGM is held on the 3rd Thursday in August each year.
From time to time we also organise trips to places of interest or hold outdoor events such as the recent outdoor workshop at the Botanical Gardens. Within the club there are also 'special interest groups' catering for different editing systems.
Editing systems used by members include:
- Casablanca (MacroSystem)
- i-movie (Mac)
- Premiere (Adobe)
- Video Studio (Ulead/Corel)
- Moviemaker (MicroSoft)
- Vegas (Sony)
The Club holds a competition every year in November for members. The competition is based on level of competence and not on topics or genre. Categories are: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Open, and Group Entry. The Canberra Southern Cross Club is a supporter of our Video Competition.
